Our Mission
Plumbers 911 Chicago connects Chicago-area homeowners and businesses with union plumbers from Plumbers Local 130. When you call, you aren't getting a commissioned salesperson or whoever answered a staffing ad — you're getting a journeyman who earned the title through a five-year apprenticeship, with more than 7,500 hours of supervised on-the-job training and classroom instruction before working on their own.

Trained Like It Matters: The Plumbers Local 130 Apprenticeship
The plumbers we dispatch didn't learn on your house. Plumbers Local 130's apprenticeship is a five-year, U.S. Department of Labor–registered program: 7,500 to 10,000 hours of supervised on-the-job work and a minimum of 346 hours of classroom instruction a year for the first three years, covering code, gas piping, backflow, drainage and the systems Chicago's older housing stock throws at a plumber. Journeyworkers then hold a City of Chicago or State of Illinois plumber's license and complete continuing education to keep it. Here's a look inside the program, from Local 130 itself.
Plumbers Local 130’s apprenticeship is a five-year, U.S. Department of Labor–registered program.
7,500 to 10,000 hours of supervised on-the-job learning before journeyworker status.
A minimum of 346 hours of related classroom instruction in each of the first three years, with continuing education after.
Journeyworkers hold a Plumber’s License from the City of Chicago or the State of Illinois, with ongoing continuing-education requirements to renew.
